CD „Chór Meja“ - Sorbian choir music

The formation of the MEJA choir was the result of an evening of singing to which the teacher and organist Jurij Slodenk invited the people of Radibor in 1895.
Since then the choir has existed almost without a break so it is the oldest Sorbian choir of Lusatia. After more than a century some of the inhabitants of Radibor are still singing enthusiastically in their Sorbian mother tongue! The aim today is the same as in the past - the conservation of Sorbian songs and language.
Most of the songs on this CD are new productions conducted by Judith Kubitz but they are complemented by archive recordings of the conductor Achim Brankatschk who led the choir for half a century until 1998.
